Performance car fans have plenty to look forward to, and Mercedes-AMG is making sure of it. The brand is in the middle of its largest model rollout to date, expanding its lineup across both combustion and electric powertrains. And according to AMG, these new models won’t just perform better, they’ll stand out with bolder, more expressive styling too.

AMG was once only a purveyor of thunderous V8s, but a lot has changed over the years. While those thunderous engines helped define the brand, today’s AMG portfolio is a lot more varied. The lineup now includes four-cylinder hot hatches like the A35 and A45, multiple hybrids, and even a highly debated shift in the C63, which now features a turbocharged four-cylinder hybrid in place of its once-revered V8.

But AMG isn’t stopping there. The company is also working on two all-new EVs, including a sedan akin to the Porsche Taycan and a new full-size SUV like the Lotus Eletre. Both models will use the same AMG.EA architecture. According to AMG chief executive Michael Schiebe, these models will be “capable on a racetrack, where it’s constant acceleration and braking.”
Design That Stands Apart
According to Schiebe, the plan is to lean harder into AMG’s unique visual identity. While past models have sometimes blurred the line between AMG and their standard Mercedes-Benz counterparts, the future looks more distinct.
“Customers love the distinctive AMG look and the differentiation it brings,” Schiebe told Motor Trend. “Our future cars will be more expressive in that dimension. If you look into the future, I would say you can expect cars that will be more visually differentiated—AMG will be doubling down on design. Our design language will be more expressive.”
A Full Pipeline of Performance
Schiebe didn’t hold back when outlining just how many new models are coming soon. “In the next two to three years, you can expect the biggest portfolio rollout of AMG cars in decades,” he said. “This is why my team is under high pressure, because we have so many cars in the pipeline. In the coming years, we will just launch one after another, both on the electric side, but also on the combustion side.”

Schiebe also shed some light on what AMG has in the works for the four-cylinder C63. We all know the sports sedan has not been well received, and AMG knows it, too. He acknowledged that “these are pure V8 fans, and it’s hard to convince them of this four-cylinder hybrid technology.”
But that may be changing. Schiebe hinted that AMG plans to “fulfill our customers’ dreams in the next two to three years,” which likely alludes to the rumored inline-six version in development for the C63. If true, it could offer a more palatable middle ground between tradition and the brand’s push toward electrification.
