- A Saab 9-3 was filmed slithering all over a Texas freeway.
- The convertible was being towed via chain by a white SUV.
- As the camera gets closer can you see a driver in the 9-3.
Being towed behind another vehicle can be a harrowing experience. Especially if that tow vehicle is a huge SUV that blocks all view of the road ahead and you’re on a fast-moving freeway and the two cars aren’t connected by a solid bar. But the ‘driver’ of the Saab 9-3 in this video discovered a whole new level of towing terror.

Footage acquired by ABC News shows the two-decade-old 9-3 convertible wriggling like a hyperactive snake as its dragged along a freeway in Houston, Texas. It’s connected via a chain to a white SUV and is being hauled backwards with all four wheels firmly on the ground but rarely pointing in the same direction.

The Saab is yawing this way and that, at some points ending up at right angles to the direction of freeway traffic. But it’s only when the car containing the phone camera shooting the footage gets closer that we can see there’s actually someone at the wheel of the 9-3.
What makes the whole incident even more surreal is that the white SUV tow vehicle continues to cruise along as if there’s nothing remotely weird going on behind it. Despite all the Saab’s fishtailing, the SUV hardly seems to flinch.
David Chairez and his coworker, who shot the footage of the dangerous caper on the city’s North Loop, told ABC’s Eyewitness News that the SUV was being driven by a woman, and that it looked like she was laughing as she caused mayhem behind her.
Incredibly, the report makes no mention of any accidents or injuries resulting from the chaotic towing exercise, and we have no idea why the Saab was being towed, how far the pair traveled or what happened when they left the freeway.
This isn’t the first dangerous tow-job we’ve come across and it won’t be the last. A few years back we reported on a Lincoln MKC that was being dragged along on its wheel rims.
