Among those figures is someone who rarely appeared on camera but was instrumental in shaping the show\u2019s golden years. We\u2019re talking about Andy Wilman, the man often called the fourth member of the iconic trio.<\/p>\n<p>He played a pivotal role in the 2002 relaunch of <em>Top Gear<\/em>, often referred to on-screen simply as \u201cthe producer.\u201d Although rarely seen, he became a familiar name among fans and occasionally made appearances in episodes. When <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/tag\/jeremy-clarkson\/\">Clarkson<\/a>, May, and Hammond left the BBC for Amazon, Wilman followed them, and he\u2019s currently the producer behind the hugely successful Clarkson\u2019s Farm. But for the last six months, it seems the man who helped drive the show forward hasn\u2019t been driving anywhere himself.<\/p>\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article-thumbnails-organic\"><\/div>\n<p><strong>A Slippery Slope, at 24 Miles Per Hour<\/strong><\/p>\n<p>        <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/S22_3078_fine.jpg\" data-type=\"inarticle-image-block\"> <\/p>\n<figure class=\"wp-block-image size-large\">\n<p>                    <img loading=\"lazy\" class=\"lazy \" src=\"\" alt=\" Top Gear Producer Banned From Driving After Being Clocked At 24mph\" width=\"2550\" height=\"1700\" data-src=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/wp-content\/uploads\/2025\/05\/S22_3078_fine-1024x683.jpg\" data-type=\"inarticle-image\" \/><\/p>\n<\/figure>\n<p>        <\/a>  <\/p>\n<p>According to a <a href=\"https:\/\/www.telegraph.co.uk\/news\/2025\/05\/29\/top-gear-producer-banned-driving-wilman-porsche-clarkson\/#:~:text=A%20Top%20Gear%20producer%20has,speeding%20conviction%20in%20three%20years.\">report<\/a> from the Telegram, Wilman was issued a six-month driving ban in December of last year. A speed camera captured his gray Porsche Macan with him at the helm going 24 mph in a 20 mph zone. That might not sound too terrible, but it\u2019s a ticketable offense in the UK. In fact, in this particular case, it counted as Wilman\u2019s fourth speeding violation in three years. As a result, the driving ban was automatic.<\/p>\n<p>The court gave Wilman the chance to fight the ticket, but he openly admitted the wrongdoing. \u201cI accept things as they are, 20mph is a tough one, but you must have heard that many times \u2013 but yes, it is as it is, I have nothing to query or challenge,\u201d he said to the magistrate.<\/p>\n<p><strong>More: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/2025\/02\/swiss-man-fined-110000-for-tailgating-on-the-motorway\/\">Swiss Court Says $110,000 Tailgating Fine Is Totally Fair If You\u2019re A Millionaire<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<p>Notably, this wasn\u2019t just a driving ban. Wilman also had to pay fines, which weren\u2019t exactly small. They included \u201c\u00a31,042 in total, including a \u00a3666 fine, \u00a3266 surcharge and costs of \u00a3110.\u201d That\u2019s a total of roughly $2,810 at current exchange rates.
