The new hot hatch is set to make its debut at the 24 Hours of Le Mans on June 13, and it could pave the way for future GTi variants across the French automaker\u2019s lineup.<\/p>\n<p>The E-208 GTI will be the automaker\u2019s first performance-focused electric vehicle and targets buyers who want something engaging to drive. <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/tag\/peugeot\/\">Peugeot<\/a> boss Alain Favey said relaunching the GTi brand will help it \u201creconnect\u201d with its past and history while also establishing a link between its road cars and its involvement in the World Endurance Championship.<\/p>\n<p><strong>Also: <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/2023\/07\/2024-peugeot-208-looks-even-more-stylish-and-e-208-gets-more-range\/\">Peugeot 208 Looks Even More Stylish And Has More Impressive Tech<\/a><\/strong><\/p>\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article-thumbnails-organic\"><\/div>\n<p>\u201cI\u2019m in a position to confirm that we will reintroduce the GTi\u00a0on the E-208 as soon as possible,\u201d Favey <a href=\"https:\/\/www.autocar.co.uk\/car-news\/new-cars\/official-peugeot-e-208-gti-green-lit-new-ceo\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener nofollow\">told<\/a> Autocar. \u201cWe\u2019ve made the decision that Peugeot GTi\u00a0will be reintroduced. We want to continue to nurture the reputation of the brand for driving sensations and the fact that our cars produce particular driving sensations, either as a driver or as someone that is being driven in the car.\u201d<\/p>\n<p>The return of the GTi will effectively replace the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/2024\/06\/peugeot-to-kill-pse-badge-after-just-1-model-as-brand-focuses-on-evs\/\">short-lived Peugeot Sport Engineered (PSE) badge<\/a>. The mechanically-related SUVs generate from 237 hp (177 kW \/ 240 PS) up to 278 hp (207 kW \/ 280 PS) from a single electric motor.
