The incident involves a Mercedes-AMG GT, a track day, and allegedly, a catastrophic brake failure. According to at least one source, the failure came after the owner of the car told the driver that all components were race-ready. In the video, we see the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/tag\/mercedes-amg-gt\/\">Mercedes-AMG GT<\/a> driver coming out of turn 13, heading toward turn 14. As they approach, a car ahead pulls into the pit lane, and another car stays on the track. The hatch seems to have no issue, the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/tag\/amg\/\">AMG<\/a> peaks at around 230 km\/h (142 mph), but then, it doesn\u2019t slow fast enough. The driver says something and saws at the wheel, but the sports car mostly remains straight and plows through the corner. Unable to slow the car, the driver straightens the wheel and hits the barrier head-on. Turn 15 is also an off-camber turn, so it\u2019s even harder to make it when a car goes into the corner too quickly.<\/p>\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article\"><\/div>\n<div id=\"taboola-mid-article-thumbnails-organic\"><\/div>\n<p>According to one person who shared the <a href=\"https:\/\/www.carscoops.com\/tag\/video\/\">video<\/a> on Facebook, the passenger in the car is actually the owner. Allegedly, the owner told the driver that the car was fully prepared for track use, including the brakes. What appears to have happened, however, is a complete brake failure due to a broken brake line. While it\u2019s difficult to confirm with certainty, the video seems to support this theory. Photos from the aftermath also show a severed brake hose, although it\u2019s possible that damage occurred during the crash.<\/p>\n<p><video controls width=\"896\" height=\"auto\" style=\"background-color: #000\"><\/video><\/p>\n<p>No doubt, it\u2019s key to fully prepare any car that is about to be subject to a track day. That includes brakes along with cooling systems, engine fluids, and more. In this case, whatever led to the crash also led to serious injury. The original poster says the driver suffered spinal damage.<\/p>\n<p>To the AMG GT\u2019s credit, it seemingly did an amazing job of keeping these two occupants alive. Photos show an almost intact passenger compartment, including the fact that the windshield didn\u2019t break and the doors could still open after the crash.
