Ford recently hiked prices on the Mexican-made Maverick, Bronco Sport, and Mustang Mach-E. At the time, the automaker said the increases were due to typical mid-year pricing actions as well as “some tariffs we are facing.”

While Ford was among the first, we knew they wouldn’t be the last. That’s clear today as a Subaru dealer in Massachusetts has detailed upcoming price hikes. Planet Subaru says vehicles arriving in June will have price increases of up to $2,055. That’s a significant increase, but the numbers vary by model and trim.

The American-made Ascent is slated to have price increases of between $1,085 and $2,055 depending on trim. Likewise, the Forester is said to be getting a hike of between $1,075 and $1,600. The outgoing Outback is also slated to climb $1,715 to $1,820.
The Solterra will reportedly eschew a price increase, but the Japanese-made BRZ and WRX won’t be as lucky thanks to a $2,000 jump. The Crosstrek and Impreza are slated to get $750 more expensive, while the soon to be dead Legacy jumps $1,600.
The dealer noted these “increases are insufficient to cover the costs of the tariffs, so we expect additional increases before the end of 2025.” That remains to be seen, but it likely depends on how the tariff situation pans out.
When reached for comment, the automaker told us “Subaru of America has adjusted its pricing in response to current market conditions. The changes were made to offset increased costs while maintaining a solid value proposition for our customers. Subaru pricing is not based on the country of origin of its products.”
The latter sentence appears to be part of an effort to avoid upsetting President Donald Trump. Walmart recently revealed tariffs will force them to increase prices, which prompted a response from Trump saying the retailer “should STOP trying to blame tariffs as the reason for raising prices throughout the chain.”
Despite seeming to claim tariffs weren’t responsible for increased costs, Trump went on to say Walmart should “eat the tariffs” and “not charge valued customers anything.” Mental gymnastics aside, he said “I’ll be watching and so will your customers!”
